Our school had the Brain Fair tonight... The time of year when the teachers ask "What in this whole world would you like to learn about" and then they spend time learning, building, reading, and putting together a project to show off to peers, parents and the public.
Each participant makes their own thing, each a different topic. But all look forward to it, and all get excited. There is no requirement, no demand, its a choice. Much different then traditional schools, and they enjoy it.
This year I brought Veg so he could see what to look forward to next year.... Some of the topics tonight were:
Bengal Tigers, Human Eye Ball. Birds, Snakes, Sign Language, Mount Everest, Killer Whales, Sound Waves.....
The list goes on, so when it was over I asked Veg what he was thinking his Submission will be for next year and he said "SCIENCE" without skipping a beat. He planned out what his diagram would look like, the type of experiments he would do, the tools he will need. He is READY!
In fact SOOOO ready, that he has it in his head that he will be starting Elementary after spring break...As always he wouldn't take my answer as truth, and so I asked his teacher to explain when Elementary would truly begin for him. He listens to her... I'm just chopped liver! *smile*
But with Spring Break upon us, it is my turn to ask Veg "What in this whole world would he like to learn about" and we spend the next two weeks finding the answers. At least that is what we did the last two Spring Breaks and it was successful. We shall see what he comes up with this year.
The little Smarty Pants!

Maybe you should switch things around.... Ask yourself what YOU would like to learn about and let HIM teach you!
