I posted yesterday about needing to ask my Hubby for things I want done... And I can tell you that since I figured this out, I'm no longer needing to do "everything". Instead of expecting, I ask... and it is a wonderful thing!
Thankfully, I have a Hubby that I can communicate with and ask "What were you thinking?" in most cases he will say "I wasn't"..... So when I saw this Video about the Nothing box, I was laughing too hard....
Then I talked to a friend who had her own scenario, and I was able to discuss with my Hubby to find out the Man's view....
Friend said "My feet were so sore, I put them on my Hubby's lap expecting him to rub them, but he didn't"
And so later while talking to my Hubby, I told him this, and he said "She should have asked, we aren't mind readers"
I said... "Its not about being a mind reader, its about common sense.... If she has sore feet, mentions they are sore and puts them in lap... you would think her Hubby would know what to do?"
My Husband with his big giant heart says.... "NO, if you said your feet were sore and put them on my lap, I would think.. Man that Sucks that her feet hurt, I better not touch them because they hurt"
He said it would be the furthest thing in his mind to think of rubbing them.... So I said "Well how come, when I put my arms out, you scratch them with out me asking"
And he said... "Because you have me trained to know, that (A) your practicing flying a plane or (B) - you want your arms scratched, I usually go for option (B) and so far that's worked"
So then he says... "If My feet hurt, and I came home and said "My feet hurt" I wouldn't want you touching my feet... THEY HURT... common sense says, Stay away from my feet they hurt... So why, if you tell me your feet hurt would you automatically assume that I will rub them, YOU HAVE TO ASK!" he says!
OK - Fair enough... "But why..............."
Oh never mind!!! *smile*
Something I've enjoyed lately is asking my Hubby these things. Because the more I understand, the less frustrated I get.... We do have different brains... Simple!
Another video from Mark Gungor to go along with this same topic..Tale of two brains...
