I've had a few people ask me lately what I'm doing besides exercise.. Many feel I was eating healthy before (as did I) so what could I possibly be doing now that is making such a difference???
Well here is a list:
- I rarely eat after dinner
- Stopped working as late Before, I was staying up too late and eating, to keep myself awake...
- I don't drink Choco/Coffee beverages as much (only for treats) so I don't get the calories, or the up and down energy buzz, or the inability to sleep.
- I'm Sleeping more, even taking nap time on the weekends if needed. (There are two parents in the house after all, I don't have to be ON 24/7)
- Stopped Baking - If we want a Vegan goody we'll go buy ONE and split it, rather then having a whole batch sitting in the house.
- Stopped making casseroles and pasta dishes. Those giant portions caught up with me. - I still use the same veggies, only don't cook all the goodness out of them and prepare something else.
- A bag of noodles can now last for 4 meals. I just make enough for small portions. They become the "side" instead of the entree. IF I make them at all.
- IF I do make a sandwich, I'll use one piece of bread and fold it in half. I don't need two pieces.
- When I'm having hunger attacks, I'll eat a lot more fruit, or double my green smoothie intake vs. reaching for junk, until the next meal.
- Instead of a Potato Chip, I'll eat Dehydrated Kale Crisps
- Instead of a Giant Pot of chili during a cold rainy day, I make 3 servings worth (one for each of us)
- Instead of Crunchy Snacks, I'll reach for carrots
- Instead of a whole Peanut butter Sandwich, I'll take a teaspoonful of Almond butter.
- To fill my sweet tooth, I'll reach for dried fruits or dark chocolate squares. or Raw Brownie bites.
- Instead of white rice, I cook brown rice.
- Instead of Soy or Coconut Ice Cream, I make Raw Banana Ice Cream
- Instead of melted cheese dip, I'll have raw vegan Hemp "cheese" dip
- Consuming Root Veggies like Beets, as well as sprouts, and other raw veggies that I wouldn't have touched a year ago. Filling my body with more vitamins and nutrients then its consumed its whole life.
- I'm staying hydrated
- Using Romaine Lettuce in place of Taco Shells
- Beans and Hummus instead of Cheese on a Grilled "Cheese" Sandwich
- Make Sprouted Tortilla Pizzas instead of real pizza
- Consuming LOTS of greens in liquid form... VERY HEALING!
- Exercising more and staying active
- Moving.. I stay moving at work, practice sitting up straight, doing leg exercises etc.
- Parking far away from destination
- Getting up and going to talk to someone rather then using technology in the office. Moving!!!
- I allow my self to eat what I feel like when out to eat... Sometimes just a salad and some times a giant tofu dish. But only have foods in the house that make me feel good.
- Started packing lunches (most) days, so I know I'm taking only Good foods that provide me energy to work.
When people say "Oh, she can't eat that" I usually say "I could, but I don't want to" :-) There is nothing I can't eat, but there is a WHOLE lot that I don't want to eat anymore.... And I don't think I ever will.
So that's pretty much the Gist of it... Crazy to think its only been 9 months... So many changes in that short time! Changes I really Like! Horrible to think what I was doing before... Wowsers!
