As a small business owner, thinking about asking for testimonials always seems like a daunting task. I know they are necessary to share your business with others and spread the word of happy customers but to ask someone to say something nice about you just seems... well.... weird.
Instead, I like to pull things that they say from conversation and post them anonymously and/or ask permission to use their words without actually coming out and saying:
"Hey, can you tell me how awesome I am, Pleeeezzzeeee with sugar on top"
People have said to me in the past, they would provide a testimonial if I ever needed one, but that requires me to contact them and say.. "Hey, Yeah I need one". Which just feels, well..... weird.
So imagine my surprise when a current client said (completely out of the blue) that she wanted to write a testimonial for me. Not only was she pleased with how things have changed in her life but she wanted to share it with others and get more people to feel the way she did.
I didn't have to ask, or pretend, or be someone that I'm not. I just did what I know how to do, be ME! And she wrote the most amazing testimonial. It made me tear up to see her thoughts in writing. My CrossFit box posted it in their newsletter and I went from teary eyed to embarrassed. But then the most wonderful thing happened...
Vegkid read the newsletter and saw everything that was written about me... He got a little teary, gave me a great big hug and said:
"You know what Mom? I'm not surprised to see those words because everything she said is true. I would know because you're my Mom"
Then he continues with:
"And it is pretty cool that you are able to share with the world the gift that God gave you, otherwise I would be the only one to see it"
OK so then I got more teary eyed... All because of a testimonial that I didn't have to ask for...
I do LOVE what I do and all the people that have been brought in to my life because of what I do!
Life is a wonderful thing.
