Last year when we went to the beach, we collected some shells and the sand that came with them... Veg loved crafting with them, we made cards and things. But the rested of them went in this box.
We bought it for $2 at the craft store and then painted it a little rustic, then filled with our shells. A couple glued on top for decoration and a couple decals on the back window to complete this nice little memory box decoration.

Ahh.. that's a very cute idea for kids. What a nice keepsake from the beach.
