MORE CARDS FROM TODAY

Not sure why I'm so crafty today... Maybe it is because I had planned to spend all weekend making 26 invitations that I don't have to make now.  Or maybe its because I got Veg's 34 Valentine cards cut and started so he can decorate them... 

So I came up with these on my own.. Oh and I took the pictures outside, so they came out a little better this time (but there are shadows)..

This first card is a set of stamps that Hubby found for me.  There is one flower per stamp, and you just dob them one at a time until you create what ever image you want.  This is what I came up with for the first time.  I think I can do better with practice.  Also the butterflies are a little brighter then I intended, but when I added some glitter glue the ink changed colors.  Whoops!  So I'll know not to do that next time... Good news was, I had a piece of paper the same color, so I stuck it on the inside to look like I did this on purpose!  (you can click the images to make them bigger)

Just about every supply that was used to make this next card came from my friend... (thank you SH)  And being that I never send out Anniversary cards, I'm not too sure why I made this.  ha ha..  But now it is my third Anniversary card, just because I love the way they are coming out.  Guess I'll be sending them out this year.. If anyone is reading this and has an Anniversary, let me know the date, so I can use these cards!  ha ha!

These are colors that I don't normally use together.  But I'm starting to expand my colors a bit, since I've been using just blues for so long.  Not to mention it becomes a little more challenging and fun when you step out side your comfort zone.

CARD CHALLENGE

My son received a store bought card from his grandparents last week and it provided a great challenge for my friend and I to create our version of the card.... Here is my rendition... I think he's so darn cute I just want to frame and keep him... But alas, he will find a good home in someone's mailbox, I'm sure!!  Oh, speaking of that, he is Over sized, so I'll be hand making an envelope and he'll probably take 2 or 3 stamps.

SPECIAL BOX

Its an iced in sickly day at the Veg house... Good news is Veg got sick, which forced us not to travel... Icy roads and driving don't mix... Double good news is, he only had a case of  "hugging the bucket" for a couple hours.  Bad news is... He was ready to play after this and I had to work.  Sooo... Insert movies, video games, ack... am I horrible or what.  And then I decided to take a craft break.  Thanks to Kaboose we Got the idea to make this Popsicle Stick Box... 

Veg didn't want to paint his... so this is the opened box:

Its actually really sturdy and quite cool looking, if I may say so myself!  *smile*

Veg already has it filled with his favorite "gem"  hee hee!

CONGRATS NEW BABY - CARD

A Co-worker and fellow card maker just had a Grandbaby...  Well her daughter had the grandbaby, but you know what I mean... 

Anyway, I've been meaning to make her a card, and was finally inspired today... Can you tell, I've been a little crafty today... *smile*

GET WELL SOON

This one was inspired by a picture in the Stampin' Up Idea Book.. Not sure why I ended up with a "Get Well Soon" from an "I Love You" Idea, but I like it none-the-less.

LIGHT HOUSE CARD

Hubby bought me this light house stamp and it wasn't something I ever thought I'd use... So I let my friend have it, but she didn't use it either.... Well, she gave it back to me last night, and its been staring at me ever since...  So I finally decided to use it today.  I like the way the card came out.  Simple yet Pretty....  The inside is a message to my hubby...

*hint*  It was something about "weathering a storm"  But I won't get in to the details here.  *smile*

RED HAT BIRTHDAY CARD

This one will be going to my Hubby's Grandmother.  Her Birthday isn't until April... Am I getting ahead of the game, or what?  She is a Red Hat Lady through and through...  Once again these colors didn't come out as good... but they are the Red and Purple that match the colors of the Red Hat Society!

BOTTLE CAP CARD

This picture doesn't do justice, because the paper is actually bright red, and the bottle cap is stuck to the inside of the card with metal scrapbooking adhesive...  There is a "double pane" window so it is layered, and when you open the flap of the card it says "this much" with Hands extended on both sides.

The "I heart U" is layered in the bottle cap and then I use the Stampin' Up Crystal effects to fill in the cap.  So it looks like the letters are floating in glass.

I gave it to my guy at lunch today and he liked it so much that he took it to work to hang in his space. 

FYI - this wouldn't be a good card to mail to someone because within the 30 minutes it took to take to my Hubby, the bottle cap had already popped through the Envelope.   (whoops)  But he didn't seem to mind.

However, it would be good to make and take, or attach to a gift bag or something.   Making the bottle caps this way, all make great magnets.  I've made a couple of those as well, just by attaching a magnet to the back.

CRAFTY INSPIRATION

My friend and I met at the Mall today...  Why?  Because we were looking for inspiration....

Yup, at the mall..  We decided it would be fun to walk through the mall and see if we could find colors, designs or ideas that we could put together and make cards or scrapbook pages after we got home...

Then there was a challenge...  We needed to make at least one thing based on that inspiration and show it to the other person in the form of a picture! 

I've actually made two things, but here is one of my cards.. Inspired by the colors at Stride Rite -

The squares are all punched and stuck on (yes I know they are crooked, but I tried)  and the oval is raised up with some foamy dots (but you can't tell in the photo)

SHOULD HAVE LEFT IT ALONE!

You may have noticed that since I mapped my domain to vegmom.com the site has been loading funny.  Sometimes slow, sometimes not at all, and sometimes a couple refreshes are need to get the style sheets to pull in...

So this morning, I decided enough was enough and tried to tweak some files.  When that didn't work, I just turned it off completely....  Well now, all my photo links are broken through the whole Blog, and Craft Blog and even my family photo page....  GRRRRR!!!! 

Anyway... I should have just left everything alone... why do I need a silly domain anyway!  Geesh! 

So bare with me as I try to resolve this mess.... And let me know if you see any problems just getting the page to load.

MAKING AN ENVELOPE

  During this Christmas Card season, I got in a bind with a handmade card that didn't fit my envelope... I was in a rush to be some where and couldn't go searching for a bigger envelope.  So I grabbed an 8 1/2 by 11 piece of computer paper and made some folds.  Hoping I'd get something that resembled an envelope. 

I actually liked it so much, that I made a few more.  Here are the folds you need to make if you ever want to make your own envelope!

Step 1:  Take a piece of paper

Step 2:  Fold both the sides

Step 3:  Place your card in the center so you can judge the size you need

Step 4:  Fold up the bottom to cover the card

 

Step 5:  Fold the corners on the top of the envelope

Step 6:  Fold the top down and decorate with stickers.   

I used horrible stickers and folds here, so that you could see what NOT TO DO!  ha ha...  Just kidding.. I actually did that on purpose so everything would show up in this picture.  I didn't actually send it to someone like this.  In real life, you'd make clean folds and decorate the envelope to match the card.

Here is the back side of the completed envelope!! Even just cheap printer paper, gives a clean look (and is easy to fold)  but you could use any kind of fancy paper to do the same thing.

CALENDAR TURNS PAGE

Taking down my flimsy Advent boxes did end up destroying the boxes.  So I decided to cut off all the tops and make this scrapbook page.  This Advent page will make a great memory, Especially since I didn't take too many Christmas Pics this year...   Veg loved this project, so maybe making a new one every year, won't be so bad. 

In about 11 months, please send me a cyber slap for making that comment!  *smile*  This thing was a lot of work!  But well worth it!

ONE MORE CIRCLE CARD

Guess, Circles were my theme this week... This is actually a card I did a while ago, made with scraps, but I didn't like the way it turned out.  So I've given it a new look by adding some red, and am really happy with how it turned out.

A FEW CARDS

Not sure why I'm making Christmas cards when Christmas is over... You'd think I'd be stocking up on Birthday cards for the coming year... How ever, these ideas came to via drive through windows and catalogs, so I had to make them while they were in my head...  Besides, its never too early to start making Christmas cards.. AND, Some of them even make good thank you cards from those holiday gifts!  *smile*  Multi-tasking at its finest!  And of course, cards the kids can help with which is even better!
