MEMORY GAME

I'm getting ready to go visit my Nieces, and thought it would be fun to take them a craft kit for each to work on.  But I've been having trouble finding that "perfect" thing.  Until last night - I was scanning some websites and came across an idea on Split Coast Stampers for making a memory game out of crafty supplies.  I didn't follow any patterns.  As soon as I saw the suggestion, I jumped on the floor and started playing.

I Cut out a LOT of squares from some left over card board I had lying around.  And then cut the same size squares from scrap paper.  Decorated the paper and glued them to the cardboard....

Then I couldn't figure out what to do with the Games.... Until today, I found these perfect size wooden boxes to put them in... Along with some supplies for the girls to decorate their boxes.  Not only is this now a game, but the boxes can be used for an activity, and play toy later.

Too Fun!!!  And the boxes were only $1 at Michaels which was extra cool!! 

CRAFTY BLOG

I Found a new favorite Crafty Blog... Check out Capture the Moment....  One of our local Mom's posted about that site, and I think I could get swallowed up in it.

The tutorials on the Left are so cool... some are too hard for my blood, but I'm looking forward to trying others!...  I'll post some pics, if I ever get a chance to do so!  *smile*  this week will be busy and next week much of the same.  So I may not have anything exciting to post to this blog for a while.

KID COLLAGE

Give a kid Supervised access to noodles from the pantry and supplies from the craft closet... a tube of glue and some paper... then see what they make...  Here is a Veg Creation from yesterday:

QUILLED SHEEP

Another idea from a friend.... Our sheep didn't turn out like the link my friend sent (I'll post here when I find the link)  But I thought he was quite cute.... Veg, however was not thrilled with our sheep...

"That doesn't look like a sheep" He said... Well so maybe he doesn't... but look at those cute eyes... Who can resist that face!  :-) 

We used white card stock cut in to strips, then wrapped them around tooth pics.  Making the quilled circles.  Veg got in to this much more then I thought he would... We glued all the pieces together.  Cut out a sheep looking face from Black card stock and put googly eyes on...  I Found two little wood pieces and glued them to the back so our sheep could stand up.   Voila....  It was easy and fun.... Even if he doesn't really look like a sheep!  *smile*

Update:  here is the link that I got this craft Idea from!!  You can see theirs really looks like a sheep and ours "not so much" but it was fun!  :-)

CARD MAKING NIGHT

My friend came over last night as a spur of the moment... what the heck, kind of get out of the house, gotta craft type of night.  Turned out we did lots of talking and not so much crafting... but I did get several cards done and then a few more today before cleaning up my mess... 

The colors in my photos never come out true to the card.  But hopefully you can see enough to get the idea:

I have found myself looking in strange places for Inspiration...This was inspired by the colors of the Tcby Berrio Cups while in a meeting last week.  A Co-worker walked in with the cup and the first thing I noticed was the colors...  I loved the way Red and Purple looked so nice together when stuck to the bright white...

Another Cupcake Card.. I even made a batch of cupcakes last night... I was just in a cupcake mood:

Not sure why I thought to make a Sympathy card.  I suppose it was due to some recent Stories of local families that have lost love ones.. Anyway.. the colors in this one, are not colors I would normally use since I've never been a fan of brown.  But while out this weekend, I saw a girl wearing Brown pants with a green and pink color floral design...  Told you I was finding inspiration in strange places... So I decided to try a floral pattern using those same colors when I got home.  This is the result:

This was just a fun bright Spring type card.. Nothing fancy but I like the way it turned out....

   

Here is a Father's Day card that is simple... but I just love it... The picture says it all:

I never thought to use a picture on the face of a card, but I saw the suggestion in one of my Friend's Magazines... 

This one was inspired by a Dollywood Advertisement that had Butterflies floating around... You'll have to click on it, and hopefully you'll be able to see the flower inside that peaks through the circle...  Again, I'm not sure why the colors are so horrible in these photos (they look great on my camera)  but the butterflies are a sort of apricot color.  Not really that pink, as shown here.

So as you can see, its been a fun crafting weekend....  Sadly, I have to put my supplies away for a while.  Not sure when I'll find time to get them back out.  But this was fun....  And my stash has filled back up slightly... Now if I can only remember to send them when I need to!  *smile*

MORE OF THE CARD CHALLENGE

So after my friend and I swapped pics for our Weekend Card Challenge, she raised the Ante.  Adding one more challenge to finish off the weekend.  Because all my stuff is already sprawled across my living room floor, it was easy to get these cards done in a short time. 

So here they are!!

The orange'ish flowers in this one are actually a sort of Apricot color... Pink/orange... Not as bright as they portray in this photo.

And this is similar to the other card challenge shot I posted earlier, but the petals are turned to make a tulip....  Thanks again to my Crafty friend for all this inspiration!  Now I'm going to go make some Scrapbook pages before I crash for the night...

HAND PRINT BUTTERFLY

Another craft idea from my friend for the weekend... I'm tellin' ya its never ending!  She told me about making a butterfly with a hand print....  Well we decided to trace the hand instead and then filled it in with pretty butterfly colors.  To finish the picture, came lots of finger print flowers.  How Fun, Easy and Spring'ish!!!

BOTTLE PIG

My Friend is filling me with inspiration this weekend..... She sent this link for Bottle Chick...  I thought this was a great Recycle & Re-use craft....  So I grabbed an already dried out bottle from our recycle bin, and then looked for the rest of my supplies... Realizing quickly that I didn't have any Yellow Chick Feathers... I decided to make a PIG!  *smile*....  Hubby and Veg are lounging on the couch, so I gave them each a pair of scissors and some pink paper and told them to cut strips.... THEY DID!...  Veg punched all the circles and I did the sticking.   A  real family project... and so cute!  ha ha...

Can't forget the tail.... (pipe cleaner)

CARD CHALLENGE AND MORE

My friend and I had a card challenge, along with that came inspiration to do some more cards.....  So here they are...  Each took less then 20 minutes... Except the Challenge card, it took a little while for me to put the colors together.... I'm not so good at that...

Here is the challenge, all done free hand... Scissors and pens.

Father's Day Card... hopefully I'll remember to send these in time since they are made in advance.  This is just a Stamp that hubby found me at work, and colored pencils...  Also the Stampin' Up Paper...The Father's Day words are rub-on transfers.

I just love this card... Not sure why, it is so simple... The background is an entire page of rub-ons and it scrolls around to the back as well.. (rub'd on then folded it)...  The Big flower is a Stamp on Stampin' Up Paper, using Black, and then versamark with embossing powder over the black... I'm not sure why the center shows up white in this photo, it is actually black.  I also cut the edges a little free hand, so its not a perfect rectangle...

My Friend has issued another challenge.... Veg and I also did a little craft earlier that I still have to take a picture of.  So check back soon!

THE NUBBIN TREE

The Kids craft weekly Newsletter came out this morning, and it was perfect timing.... Not only was it Saturday, but Veg was sitting next to me when I opened it.  He instantly wanted to work on the Flower crafts but we were missing tissue paper.  So he took HIS wallet, and we went to the store in search for tissue paper.  It was quite cute....

For those of you that asked me a long time ago for basic staples of a craft cabinet.... Colorful Tissue Paper should be added to that list!!

We came home, and ran around the yard looking for sticks....Then I found a little old (cleaned) food jar to decorate in my paint supplies... This turned in to our Vase....  And as we were crumpling up little pieces of tissue paper, Veg says "Hey Mom, Its a Nubbin Tree"  ha ha... And so that is what it is now called....

We decorated the "vase" and Tree with nothing but tissue paper and glue....  We also made a little flower with the pipe cleaners and paper... its in the center, at the bottom.  The, whole thing is now happily displayed on top of our wall unit!!

This is the same thing but two different shots... You'll see it is bright and cheery and SPRING'ish!
