LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS CARDS

Yes I make cards... Are they good?  NO!  But they work for the occasion.. And 9 times out of 10 I don't make it to the post office to mail them on time... So what is the point?  I dunno!  But at least I try!  That means something right??  OK, maybe not...  Maybe some day I will feel guilty enough to get them mailed on time, but for now, I'm just happy to get them mailed.

Ho Hum, and Christmas is no different... I got all the packages shipped, all the gifts purchased, local gifts and cards given to their recipients... And the only thing I had left to do, was Mail the cards I had made way way way before Christmas.  And to think, I thought I was prepared....

Today, I started filling out the cards and preparing them for their envelopes then realized I was 6 short.... ACK.... SIX!!   in card making years,thats at least 4 hrs worth of time....  And not to mention the creative bug has to bight for me... this stuff doesn't come naturally...

So in my mad rush to get 6 cards done this is what I came up with, while forcing my noggin to come up with something that remotely resembled a Christmas Greeting:

Then again this is what my craft area looks like after I do anything remotely crafty...  And actually, this is mildly calm... I still have 7 drawers of stamps and punches that didn't make it to the floor yet when this photo was taken!  GRAB AND GO.... Clean Later.. that is usually my Card making Plan!

STRING TREES BOARD

I showed this craft idea to Hubby tonight, and he couldn't just hammer some nails in to a piece of wood.  He said we needed to decorate the board, and he would find the perfect nails etc...

So this is our painted board with Nailed String Art Trees... Another craft that I think was more fun for Hubby and me then the Vegman... :-)  He sat next to us sewing his plastic canvas instead.

CRAFTY SUNDAY - A COUPLE CARDS

My crafty friend brought my crafty Christmas gifts yesterday and one of them was a really cool paper organizer.  So I was intending to sit down and Organize... Instead, I looked at my paper and began, cutting tearing.... until.. I had cards.... Quite a few cards!

You'll be happy to hear, I did end up cleaning the craft area later in the night.. But not until I got these all complete.  Including a card Veg made for one of his teachers.  And another not pictured here for Hubby's co-worker. (he stuck it in an envelope before I could get my camera ready)

The first two are using that homemade paper from last week.  I really like the way the colors look, Girly girl colors, but these cards are only those my Mother would love...

Being that dryer lint was used in the paper making process, there is plenty of dog hair to make these cards only special to those that would appreciate a card with dog hair built in...

 

 

While cleaning up the craft area, I found an old book my hubby brought home, that had ideas in it.. And there was one for this Chinese treasure box.  I didn't quite make a box but used the design to make this card... Its not perfect, but it is my first attempt at this funky creation..  If you want the template, let me know and I can scan it (I think)..

And this little tree with apples for ornaments, was thought up in a quick way, while Veg was using his sponges to decorate paper. And I was putting my new "teacher" paper away from my friend...Here is what we came up with...

SMELL GOOD ORNAMENTS

I saw this idea on Crafty Crow yesterday... who new that all it took to make a smell pretty ornament was Cinnamon and Applesauce....  Does it rot eventually??  Well I don't know.  But it sure did make a funky feeling dough and they smell darn good today!  

Veg didn't feellike playing with the "brown" dough, so I made these myself  :-)  Nothing fancy because I only had one christmas'ish cookie cutter.  But I was going for the smell and not the beauty this time..

Next year, I will be more prepared!  So here are my Cini-Smellies for your viewing pleasure!
