We all know that many products on the market are Toxic and just not all that great for us...
Thanks to a very kind Mom with Lots of kids that knows lots about cleaning... I have a little list to share (with her permission of course) of natural non-toxic cleaners for the home...
Use at your own risk *smile*....
Coffee stain removal: from white mugs: Rub with moist salt or baking soda
Drain Cleaner: Pour 1/2 cup baking soda down the drain followed by 1/2 cup vinegar. Wait a few minutes and then pour 2 quarts of boiling water down the drain. If that doesn't work, rent or buy a drain snake to avoid using toxic chemicals. To keep a drain clear, use 1 cup baking soda, 1 cup salt, and 1/4 cup cream of tartar once per week. Follow with hot water and then cold water rinse.
Garbage Disposal: Lemons or Grapefruits!
Grease Cutter: Lemon Juice
Hand cleaner for Paint/Grease: Margarine and then hot water and soap.
Linoleum Floor: 1 cup white vinegar to 2 gallons of water. If you can't stand the smell, add 10-20 drops of lavender oil.
Oven cleaner, porcelain stain removal, toilet bowl cleaner: plain old baking soda.
Tub and tile cleaner: 1/4 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup vinegar mixed with water.
Fabric Softner: 1 cup vinegar added to the rinse and 5-10 drops of lavender oil for fresh scent.
Fruit and wine stain removal: Pour salt or hot water on stain ASAP adn then soak in milk.
Grease stain removal: Pour boiling water on stains and then sprinkle baking soda over stain.
Ink stain removal: Soak in milk.
Mildew stain removal: Saturate with lemon juice and put out in the sun.
Furniture Polish: Almond or Olive Oil (be sure to test in a small area first... some woods, like rubberwood, can not be polished with oil).
Air freshener: Simmer an orange peel, cinnamon and cloves on your stovetop - keep adding water through the day.
Window Cleaner: 1/2 cup vinegar in 1 quart of water.
Copper bottom pots and Brass Fixtures: Equal parts vinegar, salt and flour. Rub on and rinse fully.
Silver cleaner: Rub gently with baking soda and damp sponge.
And my Favorite......
All natural, All-purpose cleaner: with 1/4 cup vinegar, 20 drops of tea tree oil, 20 drops of lavender oil, a squirt of Dr. Bronner's soap, and the rest water in a recycled squirt bottle.
