YES ITS STYROFOAM

Alright, so we have no TV to watch the ball drop.  This part I mentioned earlier... What I didn't mention was the Empire State Building that Veg and his Dad built yesterday out of Knex...

If you look closely there is a Ball on top... In Approximately 14 minutes, I will be knocking the ball off the top of the building/roller coaster.... and Voila!  Ball Dropped! 

Who needs a TV??  *smile*

Thought you may like a picture of the  Water Purification System Veg created earlier today...  This building project was made out of Tinker Toys... as you may notice.. Because building with Legos, Knex and Wood, just wasn't enough for this day.

Notice the wheels, gears, dials and buttons.....if you ask, each has a purpose...But I warn you, it will be a LONG conversation!  *smile*

TOO SMART FOR ME

Veg has been building... and building.... and building...with all his Christmas Presents  Today, I called to ask what he was doing and of course he was building something... When I asked what?  Expecting to hear car, truck, motorcycle, plane, roller coaster.... Ya no, Normal 5 year old things...  My Veg says...

"I was building a Water Purification System"

Alrighty then!! 

Then tonight while talking to my Mom she tells him that Uncle J got 3 feet of snow at his house.  So Veg says,

"Mom Mom, Uncle J got a YARD of snow"

<you mean a Foot of snow?>

"No, he got a whole YARD"

......I just agreed thinking he didn't know what he was talking about.... Until he says...

"Mom Really... Uncle J has three feet of snow and you know that equals a YARD don't ya?"

Well Poop, I guess it does... 3 Feet = Yard...  DUH.... Look it up really!   So glad he doesn't have homework.... Oh My!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

As I sit here on New Year's Eve waiting for our carry out Japenese Veg food and watching the hustle and bustle of people driving past trying to get to their celebration place of choice... I must just smile!!

I've had people asking me all day and even the waitress here asked what I would be doing tonight... Excitedly, I will be grabbing our food and going home for a nice quiet dinner with my family!!

Others can have their hustle and bustle, their parties and non family friendly beverages, but I'll be happy with none of that!!

Oh and guess what? We can't even watch the ball drop because we still don't have TV! Are we boring or what? (Ok don't answer that)

But I wouldn't have it any other way!! Hope your New Years Eve is just the way you like it and that 2009 is better then all years before it!!

A NEW VEG AROUND TOWN

I'm so very excited... A Co-Worker announced that she was now VEG... and WHY???  Because she read a book... something that I can't post here since the label is not family friendly... Has a word meaning female dog in the title.... 

If I were a breeder, I'd have no problem typing the word here, but since I'm not... I shall refrain... Anyway, apparently the book discusses factory farmed animals and how they are treated and turned in to meat (as in killed) and all the YUCK that go in to their bodies and our food supply and our human bodies...

And only 1/2 way through the book she has decided not to eat the grissly Grissel of meat products any longer....

For the first time in 8 years, I'm no longer the only Veg in the building!  HOW COOL IS THAT?

ALOE JUICE MY FRIEND

This seems to be my most popular Google search term (As in How people clicked to my blog )  All 5 of them *smile*

 Aloe Juice and Pink Eye....

Each day when I check my stats, that aloe post always comes up as a page people found via google.  Well I have to say that Aloe Juice is one of my best friends.. (assuming a plant based juice could be a friend)

So I'm happy that other people are looking for it too.. I only buy the Lakewood brand and so far have been very happy with it.  Everything from Pink Eye, to soothing a scratch in the eye... 

To gargling for a mouth burn, putting on gums for ouches...  I even use it on my dog for hot spots, and drink a little internally to stop a sore throat..  Also drinking a little internally helped to boost my immune system during the crud going through our house and will make my acne go away...

Here is the problem.... It can cause a laxative effect... in most people it may... but for me it does the opposite!!!  Yes lets talk poop!  If I take the aloe internally the bathroom is not needed.  And when the bathroom is not needed, I get cranky.... And no one wants a cranky Mom... So I stopped taking it internally unless really needed, and my skin is horribly broken out again!! 

Now I have to decide.... Bad skin or Crabby Mom???  Hmm... really hard decision... But for everything else, Aloe is my friend... I can't even say how many things it has helped for us.  Pink Eye happens to be my favorite though...Nothing like waking up with gunky swollen eyes, and have them wiped clear in a day or two! 

OH OH, and another cool use for this golden yellow beverage was when my Dog was scratching his ears like crazy the other night, it was too late to look for his drops and get back to bed.... So I put some aloe on a cotton ball and swabbed his ears.....Not only did he rest easy and quit scratching, but the next day I noticed the stink was gone...Apparently the yeast in his ear didn't like the Aloe..... BUT I DO!  *smile*

Soon you will see me post about Garlic!!  Yup, that is another member of the plant family that has become my friend.... Ok, maybe this one isn't a plant, more like a bulb?  A root?  something like that.... 

VIDEO GAME WIDOW - A HAPPY MOMENT

Hubby would not be happy with me posting this, but I'm doing so anyway and will take the slack...  For no other reason then in the very rare chance a PC or CONSOLE Gamer happens upon this blog and sees this post and steps away from his/her game of choice to spend time with his/her family....so that the Gamer doesn't wake up 5 years later and say "Where was I when that happened"

OK SO I'm dreaming that a Gamer will ever happen upon this blog.... but maybe a Gamer Widow will and know there is hope....

Here it goes!! 

I became a Gaming Widow when the first Nintendo graced our family room,  Then it became portable and that was all she wrote!  It went down hill when Playstation hit the streets, and once the PC landed in our residence, I mise well have left the state.... "Wife? Whats that?" 

Being a Gaming Widow had its ups and downs.  Some times worse then others.... But nothing as bad as when we became parents... Hubby had a cave, he could retreat from reality at will, he checked out!  He left the building (not really)...  As much as he loved being a Dad, he missed so much.  And I would have loved to share every second of those years with him if he had let me.

From first crawling to first steps, to the cutest little words and smiles.  He missed the first feeling of snow, the first rain drop, first foods....  He missed family and friends coming and going.... The first ball thrown and so much more.

He asked recently why I wasn't in any pictures the past 4 years... well that is because I was always behind the camera.  I was behind the scenes, I was taking the pictures while doing things because Hubby wasn't checked in....   He is now.... He is a much different person since he checked back in to the family, and although there is still a very big place for gaming... he is very much back in to the day-to-day of our lives... He has realized he can have both.  As all people could if they change priorities a bit...

And it wasn't until he started looking at our new digital picture frame (yeah, who would have thought that thing would make people think so much)..... That he realized how much he really missed.

While watching a video he said "Where was I when that was taken?"  And I told him that if he listened closely, he could hear a game playing in the background.... WOW!!!  What a moment..... 

As a caring person, I'm sad for him, and sometimes I was even sad for myself for not having him to share that time with... but as a Former Video Game Widow.... I couldn't be happier that he had that "Wow" moment!!!   It took 5 years, but WOW!! 

So if you are a Gamer and by chance you have read this... Don't wait 5 years... you can't take the time back... you can't reverse, there are no Do Overs... You can't regenerate or pause or wait for a Medic to revive you....  once the time is passed in real life, it is gone... And it doesn't come back.... Be a part of your family!!  The games will still be there, even if your points go down or your levels aren't all that....

When my Hubby is on his death bed someday, no one will care or remember his levels in a game... But there will be at least two people that will remember so much more!!

All this reminiscing while filling up a stinkin' digital photo frame... has me just all squishy inside... And tonight it dawned on me that I need to thank a friend.... Not sure why I choose to do this on a public blog... But heck, not many read it anyway, and for those that do..... I suggest you thank someone that means something to you too!  :-)

So, here it goes....

• Thank you for introducing me to my husband, that drives me up a wall and back down to land on my feet and sometimes he even catches me.
• Thank you for being there when we got married and for helping me move (more then once)
• Thank you for telling me what a Chinchilla was...  And all the cords that ours eventually chewed up (I didn't need them anyway)... but she gave us many smiles.
• Thank you for getting me my first Scrapbook and accessories.... Man, I bet you had NO idea what you started there??  :-)
• Thank you for being there to listen to me cry and scream when I was at my wits end with the same husband mentioned in bullent point 1 above.
• Thank you for all the dog training advice, even if I never listened... Not sure who was more stubborn, me or the dogs... OK don't answer that!!!
• Thank you for hearing me out and all the advice about house fixes (even if Hubby said you didn't know anything) I always know that you do....
• Thank you for understanding my needs to do things different.  Even if you do say I'm a fruit loop.

Thank you for everything... For 20 years of being a friend....  Seriously, where would my life be without you?  I mean if bullet point 1 and 2 didn't happen, where would I be??  So strange to think about now...... So I guess I won't...

FIRE ALARM IN THE KITCHEN

Not sure if this is a blessing or a curse....  But regardless, I will not move it, I will not take it down in the event we truly need it one day.... And yet it goes off every time I put anything in the toaster, and about 9 times out of 10 that I try to cook something on the stove.

Hubby always says "You trying to burn down the house?" In fact he says that so much that when he's not even home, I'll catch my self yelling "No, I'm not trying to burn down the house".....  So our morning started with the fire alarm going off and waffles in the toaster.  Then the day ended with noodles on the stove and the alarm going off.  As if the day had come full circle.

So Hubby Fusses at me for not cleaning the burner after the rice boiled over yesterday... (this would have helped the alarm not to go off) and because I was cooking noodles on the same burner, the bottom burner pan thing, now had caked on burned rice guts.  But the burner pan thing was brand new.... Hubby had to point that out......

He then goes on his rant about how he NEVER does stuff like that, and I explained that was because he never cooks.  So he says, he only uses one burner EVER and would never be able to mess up more then one at a time.....  Again, I say, because he NEVER cooks.... Then little Veg chimes in...  "Dad, you do cook, don't you" sticking up for his Daddy... He goes on to say "I've seen you boil water for tea and make oatmeal at the same time"

OOHHHHH..... Give the man an award!  Packaged Oatmeal and Tea at the same time!!!   Surely my little Vegman knows thats not cooking. Surely there is hope for the little guy.....

Well, Hubby couldn't stand the black on the new silvery burner pan, so he takes it to the sink... He's scrubbing, and getting more aggravated by the minute.... . "If I had an SOS pad, I could fix this" 

I finally got him to scootch out of the way.. Grabbed the pan, dropped a bit of cream of tarter (from the spice rack) on it, a couple dribbles of white vinegar to make a paste, and then wiped the pan clean with a paper towel (could have used a sponge, but I was lazy)....

VOILA!!!  Pretty silver burner pan....  And there's Hubby "How, what, how, huh.... uhh.... HOW DID YOU DO THAT?"

Well, I didn't use a chemical laden scrubby pad, I'll tell ya that!!!  *smile*

WHY IS YOUR STOMACH LIKE THAT?

In case you were wondering if a Vegetarian Mom could gain enough weight for a viable pregnancy, the answer is YES!

AND - Yes, there is only one baby in there....  because of my height the little guy had no where to go except OUT!!  And in to my lungs, hips, spine, OK, you get the idea!

At least I found a way to make use of the great belly of hugeness.... Multi-tasking at its finest!

 

And when that Vegmom's 5 year old kid says "Mom, why does your tummy look so funny?".... I can say "because when you were inside me, my skin stretched just a little bit"  (or A LOT )  I didn't have the heart to tell him, that essentially my belly gained a pouch that will forever be marked as his old home.

Then when the 5 year old sees this picture (with my head attached of course) while loading old photos on to our new Digital Picture frame, he says.... "Wow Mom, You were FAT"....

Ah, if he only new!  and by the way... Where did he get the word FAT from anyway?  Oh Well, I guess thats for another discussion!

So back to my reminiscing...Out of that belly... and home 12hrs later, this picture was taken of our little man....

 

And who says newborns sleep??  Hmmm....  Not this guy... He had way way too much to do.. And sleep was just NOT in the picture... Look here on day 2.... Yup...still no sleeping!

Less then 3 months later...  I'm pretty sure this was his ploy all along.... The less sleep we all got, the quicker he could plan his escape. 

But with this face, full of joy and wonder..... 

Who could worry about sleep, or the added tummy pouch that was once his home..... heck, I shall wear it proudly... Even if it flaps me in the jaw while going for a jog, or needs to be lifted to remove moisture...Not that I really have to do that or anything... Just Sayin'...  

Ah, isn't reminiscing Grand?

6 MILES OR MAKE THAT 7

Today's plan was to make it 6 miles.  Even if I had to walk 4 of them....The air was right, not too cold, not too windy, and I was feeling pretty good... 

Here was the plan...  Walk 1 mile for warm up, jog 4.4 miles, then walk 1 mile back to the house for cool down.. Giving me just over 6 miles total...

Unfortunately, I'm not very good at math (My brother got that gene and it passed right over me)... So I went the same direction, down the same trail... but it ended up a tad longer then I thought... this is what actually happened...

1 mile walk
5 mile jog
1.2 mile walk back home...

For a total of 7.2 miles.... Yes my friends... I went over 7 miles today... only 5 of them jogging but still.... I'm more then 1/2 way there if you add in the walking....

As you've seen by now, I've thrown all those fancy training grids out the window, and I'm just happy to do what I can.  Then at least once a weekend I plan to increase from the 7 miles.... Until some day I will be at the 13...  Some day in March actually, when at that point, I won't have a choice....  But I still have two full months to get there.  So I trot along....  Clippety Clop Clippety Clop.... Slow and steady...

HEART SHAPED SHADOW

I just discovered that I had a bad link in my post on Wednesday...  So here it is again....(and I fixed it in the Wednesday post also)

FUN PHONE CALLS

Veg and I stopped at a book store today and we found this book for my Mom... I decided not to send it to her so I could read it over the phone and cause us to have funny daily conversations..... If you have a Hot Flashing woman in your life... this is the book to get!  Soooo Funny...  (Not saying my Mom is of that age or anything, or that she would ever be having hot flashes or that this remotely resembles her in anyway whatsover)   But the book is funny

Well today was our first installment... I come down stairs away from everyone and everything so I could have a good quality talk with my Mom.  When suddenly in bursts hubby... He decided this was a great time to change a light bulb that is right over my head.

Now mind you this light bulb has probably been out for at least 2 weeks.... And... he's been home all day by himself, while Veg and I were at a friend's house....  But, This is the time he chooses to change the light bulb, and loose a piece of the lamp and everyone has to stop everything to find him the piece that fell.  Because it is needed RIGHT NOW!!! 

Didn't he know that this was Book Reading time.... Apparantly not... But imagine his surprise when I began to read this part to my Mom

"I discovered that by keeping my groceries pressed against my upper body, my hot flash had apparently cooked a steak to medium and thawed out a bag of frozen peas"......

I was laughing while reading, and my Mom was cracking up.... Hubby shakes his head and finally decides that he should finish the light bulb changing event later.  And later he did....

EVEN SHADOWS HAVE BELLIES

While at the park today, Hubby and I were talking about how we have both outgrown our clothes...

When we were walking along and the sun shined just right he says out of the blue....

"Even my shadow has grown a belly, Shadows aren't supposed to have bellies"

I laughed soooo hard!!!   Reminded me of  this post  from a long time ago...  And so yes... Shadows do have things like bellies... but only when the sun shines right... Yeah, that's it.... The Sun's fault...

THE KNEX MARATHON

The older kids have Knex at Veg's school to practice building working Gears and such... Well Veg always wondered why he couldn't have any...  For 1 they are expensive and for 2 he has enough Lego sets to build a football stadium and we didn't need more building sets.....Not to mention, they are for older kids...

But last month while at the store I found two sets for more then 1/2 off... as in really really cheap...I called NeeNee and she said "BUY THEM" and so I did.... And when Veg opened the boxes (one small one last night and big one today)  he went CRAZY!!!  Seriously, bouncing off the walls CRAZY!!  Last night he built a boat, motorcycle, helicopter, all by himself.  And they are NOT EASY!!!  This morning he started on this Roller Coaster...

After the first square, we realized this was a job for DADDY!!!  And hense became his project...  Took the boys 8+ hours, a little blood, a little family friendly cursing, and very sore fingers later, and they finished ! Veg wanted it working by bedtime... And working it was!!  SOOO COOL!! 

Well, until the chain fell off... A hand built chain by the way with 190 pieces....  Hubby got it fixed, and The two roller coaster cars go zipping along this thing.  Very fun to watch.

THANK YOU NEENEE!!!

Veg goes to sleep and says "can I take it a part tomorrow and build another one"  UMMMM NO!!!  Hubby said he couldn't take it apart for at least 2 weeks.  ha ha... I know Veg will be counting down the days.

CHRISTMAS MORN

Started out like any other day off work morning... Veg woke up, came and asked if he could play a bit while we rested some more... Of course I say yes.  It was then I realized he forgot it was Christmas...  So Hubby and I stayed in bed for another 45 minutes (we are mean like that) when Veg comes back in for his morning Hug...

I looked over and said "Merry Christmas"  AHHHH!  He screamed "I FORGOT IT WAS CHRISTMAS" (yup, I knew that)  ha ha....  He starts jumping and bouncing for joy... "Come on everyone lets see if we have presents"....  He ran down stairs, plugged in all the Christmas lights.. AH... and there were presents....

He was soooooooooooo Excited!!!  And that started a wonderful day of building, learning, and enjoying the family.  Even a walk at the park, and some naps too.  Can't beat that for nothing!!!

Soooo What did my Vegman get...

This really awesome Electricity and Magnet kit.... He liked this way more then I thought he would.  I knew that I would like it (which is why I bought it of course *smile*) but wasn't sure it would hold his interest as its for older kids.  But it became his first toy of choice to play with. 

He learned a bunch about polarity, electricity and reading circuitry schematics.  He created a real operational fan, and lit up some LED's etc. Very cool!!  After the first one, he said "I can do this by myself now"  and he did!!  We looked over to find him building a parrallel circuit, lighting an LED and the fan blade moving, all with a hand crank generator he put together.  Very cool indeed!

And this Compost Bin... YES, I got my kid a COMPOST BIN... And you wouldn't believe the happiness...
"Mom Mom Mom, do you know what this is... A real compost bin just for us... and we can make dirt, and the food will decompose and we will have our very own dirt!!"  

Again I say, How did this child become mine??

He also got more books from this series... he LOVES these books!!  And I learn a lot too, so having them around is a good thing!

And this freaky spider house... which he has already decided what he will do with it... Hubby and Veg will be sticking it outside tomorrow.  Hopefully there will be a spider this time of year that needs a home.

He also got some more cash from grandparents that he decided all needs to go toward College (Alrighty then... only my child) and then the gift of all gifts.... KNEX!!

Earlier in the week he got a giant lego set from another grandparent and already put them all together, he also got a couple more science sets, a toothbrush that sings so he will brush longer (it worked by the way) and some playdoh for his stocking....Pretty sure there was more, but he was a happy camper to say the least....

I got Hubby some headphones so he could play games on the TV without me hearing them (think that gift was more for me) but it didn't work because we don't have a jack on the TV... So that went back to the store... then he got me the Digital photo frame, but it doesn't play videos like he thought... So that is going back to the store... Both duds!!  Guess we should have stuck to his "don't buy eachother gifts rule" ha ha... Hubby ended up with a few practical stocking stuffers, and that finished our gift giving spectacular of 2008!!!  

My favorite gift today was watching the boys build the Knex stuff.  They played so nice together.  *smile*

FLOUR CUPCAKES

 

Oh they sure do look pretty.... But I dare you to try one!!  YES - I forgot a very important ingredient...

SUGAR!!!  How can a person possibly forget to add the sugar while making cupcakes??  Well this person could.. And they aren't just ordinary cupcakes.... OH NO, they were supposed to be in celebration of Jesus's Birthday... Per VEG, we needed to have cupcakes today.  And I don't ever turn down the need to make a batch of delicious Vegan Cupcakes....

And I forgot to add the SUGAR!!  So this will forever be known as the Christmas with the Flour Cupcakes... Because they pretty much tasted like a spoon full of four.  But they sure did look pretty!! 

Hubby suggested I don't throw them away and just add frosting... That actually did the trick and my Sweet Veg said they were the best cupcakes ever.... hmmm?  Maybe he doesn't like the extra sugar?  Could be possible...  He got a candle to blow out and the boys sang Happy Birthday to Jesus.

It was a nice way to finish the day.  Even if I did forget the Sugar!  Goodness Me!!!

SAVE FOR COLLEGE

Veg has the blessing of many grandparents... Some sent cash for Christmas.  I asked Veg what he wanted to spend his money on this year and he said... "I'd like to save it for College".... So he and hubby went to the bank and deposited it....

But can someone please tell me how I ended up with this kid?  I know I birthed him.  I've been told he looks like me a tad and I know he looks like his Daddy..... So he is definitely part of this family.... Is it possible that his brain has come from another family and was stuck in there during the birthing process?  Maybe that is why it took 54 hours.... It would surely take that long to implant a different brain, wouldn't it?

PRESENT OPENING STAGES OF CHILDHOOD

While watching Veg open his Grandparent's gifts the other day with fury, I realized how much he has changed in this department....

Year 1 - A present?  Whats a Present?  Oooh  a Bow, I like Bows, can I eat the bow?

Year 2 - I want whats inside, but I really don't want to take the trouble of tearing up all that paper. 

Year 3 - Oooh Paper.... I like tearing paper....  OK, I'm bored with tearing paper...too many presents...

Year 4 - Don't want to ruin the paper, lets go reeeeaaaaallllly slow, one tiny tape lift at a time.... 5 hrs later gifts are opened.

Year 5 - WHO CARES ABOUT THE PAPER.... I want whats inside.... open tear open tear.... throw to the side... Next!

Since we haven't gone past year 5, I'm not sure what follows.... You experienced Mom's can share *smile*

Merry Christmas Eve!!!!!

YOU CHEESE HEAD

I think only my Mom will think this is funny, but since I type this blog for her anyway, here it goes....

My Very mature child called his Dad a "Stinky Cheese Head"....  My more Mature Husband replied back with "Yeah, well your a moldy cheese head" 

So the mature child says "Yeah, well at least I can eat your stinky cheese because it doesn't have mold"

And the More mature Hubby says "No you can't eat it, because cheese is made out of dairy"

Then my Very Smart child that always says exactly the right things (not always, but you know what I mean)... says.... "Yes I can, because your a vegetarian, so your cheese is made out of Soy"

Sorry.... I thought this was too funny!  And the fact that it shut them both up, made it just perfect!

5 MILES AND COLD

My running this week wasn't happening so much but I wanted to be at 5 miles by today... And so I got in my 5 miles this evening... as the sun was going down and it was COLD!!!  As in 34 degrees cold...

Here are some things I learned while completing my mission tonight:

• Running with the sun to your front doesn't make you any less cold
• The wind will shift back to your front just when you get to turn around and think it will be on your back.
• Mosquitoes are out when it is 34 degrees.... OK seriously, what is up with that!!
• When the sun goes down it can get colder then cold
• It is possible for your skin to get colder then cold
• You can sweat when it is colder then cold..... And someone please tell me how this is possible.... You sweat because your body needs to cool down?  Right?  HELLO!  Didn't need to cool down, did I mention, it was COLD?
• Cold skin can turn red and feel sunburned when you enter the warm house
• Watching the sun go down behind the mountains is beautiful no matter how cold you feel
• And lastly, the most important of all......You can still run, even when you can't feel your toes.

DADDY CAN DO NO WRONG

While out for my freezing cold run (posting soon) I was passing the time by thinking of this song...  Why?  I don't know!!  I guess its one of those weeks with all the Christmas jingles playing..

There are some Mom's out there that do almost everything in their kid's lives and the Dads get to come and go as they please, take long showers at random, sleep when they feel like it, be moody when they want to..And yet to those kiddos, their Daddy is the best and can do no wrong..... I'm not saying any of that happens in my house.... NOPE not saying that at all. *wink*

But I'm dedicating this to those Moms...And you know who you are!  *smile*  (change the him to her if your little bundle is a girl)

FIRST 12 DAYS OF MOTHERHOOD

"The First Twelve Days of New Motherhood"

(to the tune of the classic twelve days of Christmas of course)

Not sure why this just popped in my head, but when something like that happens I must type it up... So here it goes!

On the first Day of Motherhood my True love gave to me..... A milk sucking little baby

On the second day of Motherhood my True love gave to me....  2 Engorged Boobs and a Milk sucking little baby

On the third day of Motherhood my True love game to me.... 3 Poopy diapers, 2 Engorged Boobs and a Milk Sucking little baby

On the fourth day of Motherhood my True love gave to me.....4 Minutes of sleep, 3 Poopy diapers, 2 Engorged Boobs and a Milk sucking little baby

On the fifth day of Motherhood my True love gave to me.... 5 Adorable smiles, 4 Minutes of sleep, 3 Poopy diapers, 2 engorged Boobs and a Milk Sucking little baby

On the 6th day of Motherhood my True love gave to me.....6 Change of clothes, 5 Adorable smiles, 4 Minutes of sleep, 3 Poopy diapers, 2 engorged Boobs and a Milk Sucking little baby

On the 7th day of Motherhood my True love gave to me .....7 books for reading, 6 Change of clothes,  5 Adorable smiles, 4 Minutes of sleep, 3 Poopy diapers, 2 engorged Boobs and a Milk Sucking little baby

On the 8th day of Motherhood my True love gave to me.... 8 glasses of water, 7 books for reading, 6 Change of clothes,  5 Adorable smiles, 4 Minutes of sleep, 3 Poopy diapers, 2 engorged Boobs and a Milk Sucking little baby

On the 9th day of Motherhood my True love gave to me .... 9 pounds on the scale, 8 glasses of water, 7 books for reading, 6 Change of clothes,  5 Adorable smiles, 4 Minutes of sleep, 3 Poopy diapers, 2 engorged Boobs and a Milk Sucking little baby

On the 10th day of Motherhood my True love gave to me.... 10 tiny toes, 9 pounds on the scale, 8 glasses of water, 7 books for reading, 6 Change of clothes,  5 Adorable smiles, 4 Minutes of sleep, 3 Poopy diapers, 2 engorged Boobs and a Milk Sucking little baby

On the 11th day of Motherhood my True love gave to me... 11 tries at eating,  10 tiny toes, 9 pounds on the scale, 8 glasses of water, 7 books for reading, 6 Change of clothes,  5 Adorable smiles, 4 Minutes of sleep, 3 Poopy diapers, 2 engorged Boobs and a Milk Sucking little baby

On the 12th day of Motherhood my True love gave to me.... A 12 second Shower, 11 tries at eating, 10 tiny toes, 9 pounds on the scale, 8 glasses of water, 7 books for reading, 6 Change of clothes,  5 Adorable smiles, 4 Minutes of sleep, 3 Poopy diapers, 2 engorged Boobs and a Milk Sucking little baby

Every day from then on out my true love gave to me... Two lives changed forever, 1 amazing child, too many blessings, So many smiles, lots of dirty diapers, many dirty clothes, a 1000 sleepless nights, every day is different, everything's a first, and another special day with my Family!!

SAYING THE PERFECT THING

There are times when Veg is aggravated and says things he shouldn't as most children do, and times when he says things that are just PERFECT ... (well, still probably shouldn't be said, but perfect none-the-less)  Until he gets that Mouth Filter, I'm sure we'll have many of each occurrence.

He woke up this morning at 8:30, feeling GREAT, slept through the whole night and was ready to eat and play.. His appetite was back full swing and he no longer wanted to be couped up in a dark room (because his eyes no longer hurt from the migraines)....

Hubby on the other hand, wanted more sleep... And was not thrilled with veg's early morning Excitement... Personally I was Super excited...And couldn't wait to start my day with a happy, no headache Vegman...

Later in the day... Hubby was in a better mood and Veg says:

"Dad, Did you go change your Crabby Pants?"

"What??" my husband asks

"Well, you woke up with some Crabby Pants on, and I was just wondering if you changed them for the happy kind"

Ah!  It was just Perfect!!

COUPON BOOK FOR LATER

The kids at school made coupon books for us parents for Christmas... Veg chose the following pages, "Laundry, clearing the table, Dusting, and more"  each page was colored with a picture of the items, and then hole punched and tied with a knot.. So he put a lot of work in to it.

Tonight at dinner, he showed it to us, and Hubby said "I would like to redeem my coupon for you clearing the table"

"OH NO" Veg says... "This is a Christmas Present, I don't have to start today"

HA HA... NOW he chooses to wait for presents... *smile*

THE KIND SIDE OF MY VEG KID

Yesterday when my guy woke up and cried because his headache was still so bad he didn't think he would make it to his open house today... But being at rock bottom caused for some drastic measures and he finally agreed to listen to me about getting better.

Things to do, what not do, what to take and what not to take... and he did... listened to Every bit without a single fuss... He got better... and today we saw HUGE improvements... so he got to go to his open house.

When he arrived, three girls immediately ran up to him saying "Look everyone, look whose here?  We missed you so"  it was such a cute event and all the children made it so special for him.  Hugs, and good wishes... They are not used to not seeing him... Many kids stopped what they were doing and ran over.  The community was complete with one of their members back.  And you could tell the peace in the room.  They don't like to be separated.

Well, he showed me a few lessons like Dividing Meters in to Centi and Decimeters, Coloring, Cursive Writing, identifying germs under a microscope, you know... Normal things for a 5 year old.  (not that I even new what a meter was let a lone a decimeter at 20... I mean 5 years old)  But thats another story..

While we were at a table he heard a child crying across the room.  He stopped what he was doing, walked briskly to the crying child and put his hand on the boys back to see if he was OK.  He came back to tell me what happened, and that everything would be OK....

A few minutes later, we were at another table.  two little girls behind us started to argue "Its, Mine... No its Mine, No its Mine" ...  They were the only two children with out parents there to see them and they were so sad.  Trying to find things to do left them staring out the window in to the parking lot waiting for their Mommies... (those are the times I feel so thankful to get to be there with mine)... And eventually they started to argue.

Well my Veg hears this, stops what he is doing, pushes in his chair and walks up to the young girls (each under 4 years old)  He sets his arms on both their shoulders and says "Now girls, please don't fight"...  He then says "You can both have a turn to look out the window and your Mommies will be here soon"  They both proclaim each was there first and they weren't moving... So he says "I'm thinking of a number, each of you pick a number and the closest gets to look out the window first"...... This satisfied them and everyone went back to their business.

I stood there watching in amazement of what I was seeing...  I mean there was compassion, leadership, problem solving skills all before my eyes.  I learned more about what he learns at school in those 2 minutes then I did the whole hour of watching him do real lessons.

Montessori is so much more then Academic.  And I love seeing the other side.

Now... never mind that we came home and he threw a complete fit, crying his eyes out because we weren't going to a restaurant for dinner tonight... Ah Well, ya win some, you lose some!  *sigh*

GETTING OUT OF THE HOUSE

When going grocery shopping alone is an exciting treat, you know you've been couped up in the house too long.  And its only been 3 days.  I'm not sure how other Moms do this long term...  I tried to get Veg out all day for fresh air, (just a car ride) and the deck was as far as we got.

But today's grocery shopping adventure was an extra special treat because I got to visit with my friend and drink a frozen Starbucks beverage.  (yes I did, and so what if I did)....  Before going grocery shopping... and made it to two stores before they closed.

Even if I came home and my Veg was sleeping, my dogs didn't even wag a tail at my presence, and Hubby didn't get up off the couch to help bring in the groceries.... so what if I wasn't even missed and had to put everything away my self....  Nope I don't care a bit... and it was soooo worth it!  What a great grocery adventure!

THE LITTLE THINGS

How something so simple can be taken for granted....  Today when I saw my Vegman up playing with toys, I was so excited....  He's been down with that migraine for the better part of 3 days, and seeing him not able to lift his head let alone play with a toy or be in a room that had any kind of light on for that long... Really made me appreciate seeing him sitting on the couch with his paper and crayons.

Then on the floor where he drug out all his marbles, then his store stuff, and his Helicopter, and his cars... I didn't even care that he didn't put stuff away, I was so glad that he was playing!!  Couldn't believe how much I take that time watching him for granted...

But then he did put the stuff away... he just can't stand a mess!  ha ha...

Later I asked how he was feeling and he said "I only have 1 inch and an 1/8th left of my headache on this side" and he points above his eye...  He said the rest was gone! 

Now thats progress... Not quite sure where the "1/8th" came from.... But he sure new what he was talking about.  *smile*

NEE NEE'S KNEE - UPDATE

I've had many people ask about my Mom's Knee from this post  so I wanted to send an update...  Looks like no surgery will be needed..  But she's pretty much stuck with the cyst that formed from the injury..  They can lance the fluid, but just the word "Lance" makes me cringe.... or she can do cortisone shots for the pain... Frankly the words Shots in the knee cap also make me cringe!!

Either way, she will not be climbing stairs very much anymore or running after grandkids.....Walking Maybe... Running, NO!  Her goal is to keep the swelling down and the tendons happy...

Note to self:  Don't get a knee injury... EVER!

Anyway, it could be worse, so I'm thankful it wasn't... And wanted to thank those of you that emailed or called with concern.  I know she will appreciate that too!
