When I drop Veg off in the morning he has a lot to carry in. His lunch, his Water and his Folder, sometimes a book. But he always wants me to drop him off and not walk in with him (now that he is sooo old of course)
They keep their bag in the school to hold shoes/slippers... its a Montessori thing :-) So he carry's the other stuff in each hand and/or under his arm.
Today a little girl new to the school stepped up to our car. She said HI and announced that she was FIVE very proudly... It was her first day of School and her first day at this School.... She was the sweetest looking little thing. You could tell her smile was one with a Big History..... I didn't know her history, but I'll remember that smile.
She looked at my Vegman and said "Wanna hold hands?"..... He said "Well I have a lot of things to carry".... Poor Kid didn't have an empty hand... So the teacher said "I'll hold your hand"....
But before she had a chance, my Vegman had finagled all his stuff just so, that he had a free hand.... And walked her proudly up the sidewalk and in to the school. She was at ease, and her smile showed it.
I was a proud Mom, and I'm sure my smile showed it.
