Veg made this Peanut Butter Banana "Dog" on a Spelt "Dog" Bun today.. We had to cut in half to fit, but you get the idea :-)
He also chose Grapes, Apple, Dried Cranberries and Pretzels.... to finish off his lunch...
I'm still feeling good about having him make lunches this year. Even though some nights, he doesn't want to do the task, I'm pleased that he pushes through and does it anyway...
Watching HIM choose what will go in his lunch just reinforces the healthy habits he has created. Sure he picked 4 fruits and no veggies, but he also has grains and peanut butter... Had Green Juice with breakfast Healthy Snacks and a healthy dinner. So it is all balanced in a day.
When he is an adult, he won't be able to say that "My Mom always made my lunch" And expect someone else to do for him... (Granted he may not be making Banana Dogs as an adult, but this is his first year ) My goal is that He'll know how to take care of himself, which in my opinion is our job as parents.
Not just drive them here and there to sports and activities, telling them what to do, when to do it, and how to act as a kid, BUT teaching them how to act when they are an Adult. THAT is what I'm trying to do.
He's only a kid for the first 18 years of his life... The other 62 +++ years, he will be an adult... And the habits he gains now will be with him many more years on the other side of 18.
If I do my job right, then its those other 62+++ years that really matter.
At age 3 he was loading the dishwasher, Last year it was check books, this year it is lunches, who knows what next year will bring.. *smile* As of this afternoon, he said will be building a solar powered car for fun...
Hey? It could happen? *smile*
