OK so here is a funny story!! (sorta)
When I started my business, I joined an organization that puts on extended learning conferences for Health Coaches. This one being in Virginia (30 minutes from Washington DC) I figured we could drive and take the family. After all, the weather would be Perfect in October to drive through the mountains and go site seeing. Not to mention Vegkid said he really needed to get to DC and scratch some things off his bucket list.
I agreed to take them and everything kind of fell in to place. The reservations worked out, school, Hubby's work, Business appts and funds, all made it doable for us to go. I even requested an upgrade and got it, to the "executive level"... Hey I own a business, I can be an executive right? Especially for only $5! *smile*
Hubs and Kid could bond during the day and do manly stuff, while I was at the conference with my Health Coach friends. Then at night we could paint the town and maybe even meet up with some people I know that live that direction. My first TRAVEL experience for the new busines and I would have my family with me. I planned to be sociable. Meet lots of people, exchange cards and greet some of my favorite speakers to thank them for their inspiration.
The whole thing felt so special that there was NO WAY my business travel bad mojo could kick in..... AND THEN... There was Hurricane Sandy! KABOOOM!!!
But I never watch the news or check the weather, so I learned about the hurricane from a quick gander at my twitter feed. At the time, it wasn't supposed to make an impact until after Monday, so we decided to make the trip. Knowing we may come back earlier than expected. Never did I think we would leave 24hrs from arrival.
To be continued....
