Well, I did it!

My first Falling in Happy Event was Earthfest 2012.
I chose this as my first for a couple reasons:
- It is a great event and always has amazing exhibits, so I wanted to be somewhere that I believed in.
- I go every year, support the mission of living Greener and I learn something every time.
- Vegkid Loves the event, the kids "natural" activities and learning booths.
- It had a low cost entry fee to get me started
- Had a beautiful location
- The demographic of people that make the effort to drive out to this event, are those who may care about what I have to say.
- It was only one day. So I could ease in to the whole thing.
Then I started to get ready. Had some major fiascoes, hidden expenses and huge chance of rain.
Speaking of fiascoes, TODAY (2 days after the festival) I received the business cards which I had ordered to hand out AT the festival. So now I have a whole lot of cards and no one to give them to.
But that is for another story!

OK, so back to the festival! The day started with my alarm not going off.... Yup, really!
Hubby came and got me saying "Hey, aren't we supposed to be leaving soon?" Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
Thankfully, I had everything ready to go the night before including, snacks, drinks, and bags packed. Vegkid jumped up saying "I'm going with you Mom, we are in this together" He packed his own activity bag, got dressed and off we went.
So we go to pick our table and get set up. Turns out we were really early and pretty much had our pick of tables. I went with the first available table in the row closest to the entrance. Hubs and Vegkid helped me carry everything, then put up the tent thing.
My thought was "If I'm going to do this, I'm not going to hide in the back... " No Sirree, I'll be right up in the front and talk to as many people as I can. Yeah well...my plan totally backfired. Go figure?
The flow of traffic went down a different direction, and came down my row LAST! So I was pretty much the second table to the front of the festival and the very last stop on people's scavenger hunt card. Whoops!!!

But that worked out for the best. I ended up having a lot of time to chat with people one-on-one between visitors, while the kids played with the lunchboxes and found their favorite fruits and veggies:

Asking the kids questions about their own lunches was so fun and getting some of the parents engaged in things that their kids may really like to eat.
I met a few Veggie Moms and funny enough they were the only ones to notice that I didn't have any Meat on the lunch idea list, nor did I have meat in the kid's toy section. But no one seemed to mind. It was GREAT!
